Albion went away with a hard earned point against a decent Nemarket side today in Ballinadee. Missing a host of players, Albion looked under pressure at the back from the opening stages. Colum Walsh & Colm O’Donovan both doing well to ensure their team stayed on level terms. Noel Twomey started the game at left back and was impressive from the off giving their winger not much in the way of runs & link up plays. Newmarket did go 1-0 up when their other winger was free at the back post to half volley a cross past Ryan in goal. 1-0 half time.
Manager Dave O’Donovan switched to 3 at the back for the second half and it changed the game for Albion with Noel Twomey putting in a huge shift at holding mid. Tim was unlucky scraping the bar on one occasion. With 8 minutes remaining there was a scramble in the box which fell to Ben a Dillon who somehow side footed the ball through two on coming defenders and the goalkeeper to make it 1-1. Both teams had chances to win it with Newmarket coming closest hitting the post in the final minute.
Team. Ryan, D Daly, N Twomey, C Walsh, O’Donovan, Hayes, J Daly (O’Connell ’60), B Dillon, C Dillon, T Harrington, M El-Sahen.
