The divisional sections have been announced for the coming season:
Afton Villa, Blackpool Cel, Banteer, De Courcey Albion, Killowen, Macroom, Newmarket, Rylane Cel, Strand Utd.
This will be a tough league for the Albion, which see’s 3 promoted teams with nothing to lose in Afton Villa, Newmarket & Ryalne. Aswell as that, Albion will face trips to Blackpool, Banteer, Killowen, Macroom & Strand UTD. Strand will go into the season as favourites for the league after a strong perforamance last season saw them push Waterloo & Donoughmore all the way for promotion. Albion, Macroom, Banteer & Killowen will fancy their chances though you cannot write off Blackpool Celtic, a tough close knit team who are always a tough test. Rylane are back in Div 2 after only 1 year down, Newmarket made a name for themselves with some very good junior players within their squad that saw them play Turners Cross in their Divisional Cup last season. Afton Villa finished top of their league, this is a team that have been there or there abouts with about 4 seasons in Division 3 and in past meetings have administered some painful defeats on the Albion.
All in all, an exciting season awaits us with the news of John Hipwells return after almost a year and a half out through injury. Along with this, we have retained most of our players from last season along with 3-4 new youthful signings.
Training begins tomorrow night, Tuesday 16th July, in Ballinadee at 7pm sharp until 8pm.
