De Courcey Albion took all 3 points in a tough home game today against Togher side Greenwood. Greenwood played attacking football from the whistle and continued to dominate for the opening 10 minutes when they were unlucky not to score after a shot skimmed the crossbar. Albion seemed to liven up and started taking control, playing the game at their own pace. The game needed a lift all the same and got one on 35′ when John Duggan swung in a corner from which Colm O’Donovan rose highest and finished well to make it 1-0 to the home side. 1-0 at half time.
t;Things got better at the start of the second half when Conan Dillon converted a John Duggan free kick with a glancing header to double the lead. Albion looked like they were going to run away with it until on 60′ Greenwood recieved a very soft penalty from which they converted. Thinking back to last weeks draw with Boscos, Albion pressed on rather than defending the lead and soon were 3-1 up after some fantastic attacking play from John Duggan who added to Albions tally. 5 minutes later Albion went 4-1 to the good when Duggan scored directly from a corner. With only 10 minutes to go Greenwood scored from a free kick on the edge of the area to make it a tense finish to the game until sub Darren Daly was put through, burst through 2 defenders and finished superbly to guarantee the 5-2 win.
A good win for Albion, who play Afton Villa next sunday in Killeady.
