De Courcey Albion ended their 3 match run without a win in the league yesterday after a hard fought 4-3 win at Eli Lilly over local rivals Parkview Celtic (Crossbarry). Both teams knew that their league placing was at stake going into the game with Albion 7th & Parkview 8th with just 1 point seperating the sides. The home side started the game well with Declan Murray dominating in midfield & Gearoid Coholan looking threatening on the wing. Seamus O’Callaghan seemed to take on most of the opposition when he struck the post after some superb solo play. Their passing & movement paid off on 20 minutes as Ronan O’Driscoll cooly lobbed the keeper to make it 1-0. Parkview stepped up a gear & on 30 minutes they made it 1-1 with some great control & a lovely finish from a tight angle by their striker. Just before the break Noel Twomey pounced on a rebounded shot from Declan Murray to put Albion 2-1 up going in at half time.
From the start of the 2nd half Albion pushed and punished Parkview when Seamus O’Callaghan blasted a low shot into the bottom right to extend the lead to 3-1. Albion had a momentary lapse & from their 1st corner of the game, Parkview scored to make it 3-2. 2 minutes later Jody MacNamara was unlucky to concede a 3rd goal which put the sides level. With 1 minute left in the game Albion were awarded a free kick from outside the area from which they converted to give themselves a well deserved win.
