Albions 3rd league outing was against UCC and the team were full of hope of getting all 3 points going into the game. But within the opening 5 minutes the team were left gobsmacked by a bizzare UCC goal coming from a cross that flew over the keepers hands and into the bottom corner. 5 minutes later albion were 2-0 down after a mix up between keeper & defender left UCC striker through to toe poke the ball in.
Albion took control of the game for the rest of the half and created chance after chance with some great attacking passing movement. Colm O’Donovan rose above everyone from a corner and hit the post, on the rebound the ball shaved the bar and went out for a goal kick. In the 2nd half albion upped the tempo and were left dissapointed after more than 10 second half chances on goal were left begging.
With 5 minutes to go UCC were down to 10 men after their centre half lashed out at Michael Walsh. But it was too late for Albion and their failure to convert was the difference in the end. It was obvious to everyone in the park that the better team lost on the day, Albion will need to start putting them away from now on as they haven’t picked up any points from the first 9 available.
